EPIPHANY EPISCOPAL Church will hold its 18th annual rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church grounds on Morgan Road off Route 175 in Odenton.Baked goods, toys, jewelry, books, clothing, household items and white elephants will be available, along with a boutique.The Epiphany cookbook and stationery also will be for sale.Hot dogs and lemonade will be on sale, and a wandering magician will entertain.Information: Dorothy Merritt, 410-674-2880, or Helen Donovan, 410-551-6187.

IT HAD the makings of a fiasco. A bake sale was scheduled in conjunction with the Bollman Bridge Elementary Yard Sale last Saturday -- and the prime organizer, Trona Vollmerhausen, was indisposed.Organizing a bake sale doesn't sound as complex as, let's say, shipping car parts from California to Toronto via Japan. But it is.We're talking about volunteers who lead busy lives and have to be reminded that they committed themselves to provide three dozen cookies.Enter Patty Burton, who quickly organized the affair, including getting the goodies put out on time and arranging to sell soft drinks.

EPIPHANY EPISCOPAL Church regrets that it must postpone the English Country Tea scheduled for Saturday. The Odenton Heritage Society Bank Building Open House, planned in conjunction with the tea, also has been postponed. A new date will be posted in this column when it is scheduled.Ready for kindergarten?Odenton Elementary School is sponsoring a family activity hour for children ages 4 and 5 who will enter kindergarten next year and their parents, from 6: 30 p.m. to 7: 30 p.m. April 30 at the school.

GREATER ODENTON Improvement Association will conduct board elections and learn about a plan to privatize family housing at Fort Meade during its meeting tomorrow.The housing initiative is a proposal by the Department of the Army to obtain high-quality living quarters on the base to replace 25 units at Meade Heights.The plan would include the transfer of 200 acres, including Meade Heights, to private ownership for the development of a community serving citizens 55 and older.Sandy Speer, the county's demographer, will outline growth patterns and forecast development of the Greater Odenton area.

THE FALL SEASON officially arrives this weekend.Kick off the day early tomorrow with an all-you-can-eat breakfast at Magothy Chelsea Community Lutheran Church, Third Street and Beach Avenue in Magothy Beach.The Ladies Guild will serve eggs any style, pancakes, creamed chipped beef, French toast, sausage, home-style potatoes, toast, biscuits, juice, fruit and beverages from 7 a.m. to 10: 30 a.m.The cost is $4.50 for adults and $2.50 for children ages 4 to 12.
