The No. 1 Cardinals (16-2) had a roster stacked with talented players and capable leaders. But it was Patrick Kelly, a three-year starter and captain, who took charge throughout the season - and in particular the big moments - to lead Calvert Hall to the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference championship. Signed to play at North Carolina, Kelly was the quarterback of the Cardinals' attack with fine dodging ability, strong...

When Kyle Boncaro and Rory Averett graduated last year as Goucher's all-time leader in points (273) and goals (190) respectively, the attack's cupboard appeared to be bare. But the unit has been rebuilt and is thriving again. Junior Max Roach ranks second on the team in both goals (17) and points (25), junior Dylan Zook leads the team in assists (16), and sophomore Sam Morgan is second in assists (14) and third in points (24). Senior Zachary Fratella ranks fifth in points (19)

The graduation of attackmen Sean Maguire and Matt Lamon has forced Towson to play a version of musical chairs with its starters on offense. Senior Matt Hughes has moved from attack to midfield and sophomore Cory Dobyns, a transfer from Drexel who leads the team in both goals and points (six each), has become a permanent fixture on attack. Another move has junior Thomas DeNapoli and sophomore Justin Mabus shifting from midfield to attack. The duo has started at attack in each of the Tigers' first two contests thus far, and their familiarity with the position is not entirely new, according to coach Shawn Nadelen.

Mark Simone makes a living convincing people to move to Baltimore. Monday afternoon, he helped a couple from Minnesota, recently hired by Johns Hopkins Hospital, settle on a $280,000 rowhouse in Upper Fells Point. Later that night, the 27-year-old real estate agent walked out of his own house in that same neighborhood and was jumped by a group of teenagers. They chased him, threw him to the ground, punched and kicked him and robbed him of his iPhone, $25 in cash and a black leather wallet.

"Look around you, we're all liars here and every one of us is better than you. " -- Littlefinger to Sansa Stark. Most of the time on "Game of Thrones" much of Westeros is concerned with the Lannister-Stark-Baratheon power struggle happening south of The Wall -- that 700-feet-tall, 300-miles-long blockade of ice that protects humanity from the frozen zombies, giants and mammoths that legends say live beyond it. Season 2's...

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's strong pro-Israel statements over the weekend, including his endorsement of Jerusalem as Israel's capital (a reversal of long-standing U.S. policy), increases the pressure on President Barack Obama to prove that he is an equally strong backer of Israel. The key question is whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak will interpret the presidential campaign rhetoric as an open invitation to provoke hostilities with Iran, in the expectation that President Obama will feel forced to jump in with both feet in support of our "ally" Israel.

WASHINGTON -- A deadly daylight attack on the huge U.S. military base at Bagram, Afghanistan, during a visit by Vice President Dick Cheney underscores the diminishing American prospects for military success in the region, analysts said yesterday. The suicide bomb attack at the base front gate - literally on the doorstep of the U.S. military command headquarters in Afghanistan - left the vice president unhurt. But the blast killed 23 people, including two U.S. soldiers, the Associated Press reported.
