Almost without fail, Loyola is at or near the top of the Division I rankings when it comes to faceoffs. And as the program has developed a line of specialists from Dan Kallaugher to Tim McDermott to John Schiavone and now J.P. Dalton, the one constant has been volunteer assistant coach Steve Vaikness, a former teammate of head coach Charley Toomey's when they both played for the Greyhounds between 1988-90. “He just does a phenomenal job of developing these guys into faceoff players,” Toomey said last week.
