The Israel Lacrosse Association has announced that former Johns Hopkins All-American Mark Greenberg will serve as defensive assistant coach of the Israel national team that will compete in the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse Men's World Championship. The championship will be held at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo., from July 10-19, 2014. “Adding a second Hall of Fame resume to our coaching staff really strengthens what we're trying to achieve,” said Israel Lacrosse general manager Howard Borkan.

Baltimore native and Loyola High alumnus David Metzbower, a former Princeton associate head coach, has joined the Loyola men's lacrosse staff as an assistant, coach Charley Toomey announced Thursday. Metzbower will start with the defending national champion Greyhounds beginning Monday. He spent 20 years as an assistant coach, offensive coordinator and goalie coach at Princeton, the final seven as the Tigers' associate head coach. Most recently he was head coach for two years at Malvern (Pa.)

Colleges Towson grad Teeters named Vermont lacrosse assistant coach Former Towson goalie Mary Teeters (Centennial) will join Vermont's women's lacrosse staff as an assistant coach, the school announced. Teeters was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association tournament as she helped the Tigers win their fifth conference title and advance to the NCAA tournament last season. During her career, Teeters was a four-time All-CAA selection and a two-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Mid-Atlantic Region first-team pick.

Roddy Peters, the four-star recruit from Suitland who committed to Maryland on Tuesday, had a pretty good coach to learn from this past spring and summer while playing for D.C. Assault. Former Wizards coach Eddie Jordan, a former point guard himself, helped coach Peters on the local AAU powerhouse and believes the Terps made out well for themselves. "He's a terrific passer, a willing passer, who's great in the open court," Jordan said Wednesday from Los Angeles, where he is now an assistant with the Lakers.

The Chesapeake Bayhawks announced today that general manager and assistant coach Brian Reese has retired to spend more time with his family. A former Bayhawks defenseman, Reese joined the team's front office in September 2011 and spearheaded building a Major League Lacrosse championship squad during the expansion year alongside first-year coach Dave Cottle. The team capped the 2012 season by beating the Denver Outlaws, 16-6, for its fourth MLL crown . “Brian did a phenomenal job as the general manager,” Cottle said.

Salisbury men's lacrosse assistant coach Tim O'Branski has joined the Georgetown coaching staff for the 2013 season, Hoyas coach Kevin Warne announced.  O'Branski, a Binghamton, N.Y. native, comes to the Hilltop as an assistant coach after three seasons on Salisbury's staff, helping the Sea Gulls to a record of 65-3, including three Division III national championship appearances and consecutive national championships. "Tim fits the description of what we want to add to this coaching staff," said Warne, who took the Hoyas post over the summer after serving as back-to-back national runner-up Maryland's offensive coordinator the past two seasons.

Because of a hazing incident, the Vanderbiltwomen's lacrosse team has withdrawn from the Navy Fall Invitational, where it was scheduled to play Oct. 13, according to a spokesperson in the school's athletic department. The Commodores were required by the department to miss one scheduled contest as a penalty. The sanction will not have an impact on Vanderbilt's 2013 season. Based on an internal departmental review, Vanderbilt determined its varsity women's tennis and women's lacrosse teams recently engaged in separate events that rise to the level of hazing.

Mount St. Mary's University women's lacrosse coach B.J. Johnson has announced the hiring of Dana Cahill as an assistant women's lacrosse coach and the addition of 2012 Mount graduate Nicole Price to her coaching staff.  "I am thrilled to welcome Dana to Mount St. Mary's," Johnson said. "I had the pleasure of coaching Dana for two years, and I am excited to have her on our staff. She was a model student-athlete excelling in the classroom as well as on the field. She was a great goalkeeper and leader at Penn State and her experience as a player will not only benefit our defense and the goalkeepers, but our team as a whole.

The Towson men's lacrosse team will host Japan's Keio University for a friendly international game on Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Johnny Unitas Stadium. “Towson Lacrosse is very excited to host Keio University,” Tigers coach Shawn Nadelen said. “It is the premier lacrosse-playing school in Japan.  Keio is very passionate for the sport of lacrosse, and it is displayed in how they perform on the field.  We are honored to have Keio at Towson, and our players will share in a great experience playing against the Japanese players.  We look forward to having a competitive game.

Men's basketball Ex-Loyola star Walker to play for Greek team Former Loyola forward Shane Walker has signed a professional contract with AS Apollon Patras and will begin his career this week in Greece's A1 League. Walker, who graduated with a communications degree in May, helped lead the Greyhounds to the NCAA tournament last season for the second time in school history. He was the only player to start all 33 games last season and averaged nine points and 6.3 rebounds per game as a senior.
