If looks could kill ... Last night's show may have been the toughest to date for Sean. Down to three ladies that he clearly has "very strong feelings for," he still had to decide which one did he not think was a candidate for being his future wife. Ashlee, Catherine and Lindsay are all very beautiful girls and each holds a special place with Sean for very different reasons. The only common denominator among the three is beauty. Sean spends a little time telling us what he sees in each of the final three.

After last night's reunion, Tierra (and her eyebrow) need to hire a publicist. Sarah may need therapy and our dear little Ashlee may very well be a big fat liar -- we learned all this in the first five minutes of "The Bachelor Women Tell All" or #WTA as it was affectionately known. Most were certain that Tierra would play a starring role in the reunion, but I never would have guessed the show would dedicate the first full hour to her. First, each of the women got to spend as much time as they needed to tell they very own personal Tierra-able tales and boy, did they take full advantage of this segment.

Ding, dong, the witch is dead! Down to six ladies this week, the final week before trips home to meet the family. Sean and the ladies all travel together via a seaplane to the beautiful island of St. Croix. Given fairy tale accommodations, with girlie glam bedrooms to share, the show begins with Tierra opting to not share rooms with any of the ladies and instead drags a fold-away cot from the closet to the living room and yes, sets her sleeping quarters up there, right smack dead center of the living room.

Ashlee Douglas is a walking advertisement for all that is good about high school sports in Carroll County. She is a soccer standout, runs the hurdles in track and plays basketball at North Carroll High.Just three games into her senior soccer season, Douglas has been labeled one of the best girls soccer players and athletes to come out of the school. But more important, she is so much of a team player that coach Phil Myers has to encourage her to take her fair share of shots. And Douglas still has a "golly, gee whiz" approach to the game in spite of her accomplishments since moving up to the varsity in 10th grade.

It's winter time, and for two North Carroll stars -- seniors Ashlee Douglas and Michele Jeffery -- that means not only trading in soccer cleats for sneakers, but also trading places.Douglas did most of the scoring on the soccer field this fall, leading the county in goals with 17, and Jeffery was one of the county's top defenders. On the court, it's a different story. The Panthers look for Jeffery inside to provide much of the scoring and, often, it's the team's point guard, Douglas, doing the looking.

Bart Scott is playing checkers against 13-year-old Ashlee Black. The Ravens' star is bouncing his red pieces across the board, like pebbles skipping over a pond, and the pile of Ashlee's black discs next to Scott keeps growing. "No mercy!" he says with a laugh. That part probably isn't surprising. It doesn't matter whether Scott's on the playing field chasing some unfortunate soul carrying a football, or if he's in his living room playing on his 21-month-old son's miniature basketball set, swatting Bartholomew's shots all over the house, this is how he competes.

I held him gently, scratching him in the places he liked best and looking into his eyes as his signature motorboat purr faded to silence. The vet pulled her stethoscope away and said, "He's gone." I stroked his face for several minutes. As his body relaxed, his face looked younger than it had in years, reminding me of the days shortly after he adopted me. As I moved into a house I'd purchased in Charlotte, N.C., I'd seen a flash of fur zip across the lawn. The lightning-fast visits became more frequent as I settled into the home with my roommate, Pam, and our two cats.
