Anne Arundel County Police are looking for a driver involved in a hit and run accident that killed a tow truck operator Wednesday morning on Route 100 in Glen Burnie. According to a police statement, tow truck operator James Frederick Schreiber Jr., 38, of the 200 block of Iris Drive in Pasadena was fatally struck while trying to help the driver of a disabled sewage truck. Investigators said he was outside his truck and preparing to tow the disabled vehicle when he was struck by a 1987 to 1995 Nissan Pathfinder, which may have been red. The Nissan's driver did not stop, police said.

Anne Arundel County Police are looking for a man suspected in a robbery Friday at 1st Mariner Bank in Odenton. Police said the man entered the branch at 1600 Annapolis Road around 11:15 a.m. and announced a bank robbery. The man told the teller to put money in a bag that he brought with him. Police are urging anyone with information about the robbery to contact Det. Clifford Van Hoesen at 410-222-3469 or 410-222-3566. Investigators did not disclose how much money was taken.

Anne Arundel County Police said Friday that they expect to conclude in the next 72 hours their investigation into the fatal shooting of a Siberian husky by a federal officer at a Severn dog park, and they indicated that the unidentified officer might not have been authorized to carry a firearm. Police, who did not previously provide a report, released a redacted version detailing the shooting of the husky, named Bear-Bear. But the department still has not named the officer, who they said fired his personal weapon in the shooting.

Florence W. Steffen, an institution in the Anne Arundel County Police Department's public information office, where her expertise earned her respect from police officers, the news media and the public during her lengthy career, died Saturday of heart failure at a daughter's Glen Burnie home. She was 79. "I was extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Florence Steffen," Col. James Teare Jr., Arundel's chief of police, said in a statement announcing her death. "She served the Police Department with excellence for more than three decades and was well respected by members of the department and the public," he said.

Anne Arundel County police have identified the officer who shot and wounded a Pasadena man Thursday. Officer Jeffrey Szczeszek, a three-year veteran of the department assigned to patrol in the Eastern District, was placed on routine administrative leave while the shooting is investigated. Police have said that Szczeszek approached a man that he saw jumping up and down on the hood of a minivan about 10:19 p.m. Thursday, and that when the man charged him, he deployed his Taser.

Anne Arundel County police identified Friday the officer involved in a shooting this week in Odenton. The officer, Cpl. Keith Doyle, who was placed on administrative leave, fired at a sport utility vehicle that was coming toward him, police said. Neither person in the vehicle was hit. About 4 a.m. Tuesday, police were investigating reports of two men breaking into vehicles in the 2000 block of Tea Island Court. When Doyle investigated, a Kia Sportage came at him and he fired, police said.

Aberdeen exercises continue until Sept. 13 3 The U.S. Army Test Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground is using aircraft and boats during training exercises continuing through Sept. 13. The center will fire weapons while conducting day and night exercises, some of which will take place in the APG's restricted waters, according to APG officials. Residents and boaters in the surrounding communities might hear the sound of weapons fire. Illumination devices will also create flashes of light, which will be visible from outside the installation.
