An article in yesterday's Anne Arundel edition of The Sun reported incorrectly the number of interscholastic sports teams Anne Arundel Community College would lose if the school transferred $50,000 from its athletic budget to the operating budget. The number of teams that would be lost has not been determined.The Sun regrets the error.

Anne Arundel Community College sociology professor Stephen F. Steelehas received the first Excellence in Distance Teaching Award given by the Maryland College of the Air Consortium.The award is given to an outstanding college tele-course instructor. Steele pioneered thedevelopment of the user-friendly syllabus to make information comprehensive yet accessible to students.

People New coordinator: Marcia J. Hall of Severna Park has been named Anne Arundel Community College's coordinator of instructional program outreach for west Anne Arundel County. She will work with community groups and learning centers to determine what programs they would like implemented at the college's new Arundel Mills education facility, scheduled to open in 2003.

A review of the Anne Arundel Community College Moonlight '' Troupers' production of "Cabaret" that ran in last Friday's editions of The Sun for Anne Arundel identified the pit orchestra conductor incorrectly. The conductor was Steve Gilmer.The Sun regrets the errors.

Anne Arundel Community College architecture students participate in "Canstruction" at Marley Station in Glen Burnie. Participants across the nation use canned food to construct sculptures, and the food used is then donated to pantries, shelters and soup kitchens.

County police Lt. Dennis Wheeler will take over the campus security office at Anne Arundel Community College this month. He will replace Lt. Gary Lyle.A 22-year veteran of the county Police Department, Lieutenant Wheeler has been a platoon commander at the Southern District.He was promoted to lieutenant in January 1991.
