Howard County police arrested 32 people on drug-related charges Wednesday night at a Dead concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion. Twenty-four people were arrested and charged with illegal possession of controlled dangerous substances, and eight were arrested and charged with distribution of controlled dangerous substances, police said. Officers also seized $1,200 in money and drugs, including LSD, PCP and marijuana, police said. The Dead is made up mainly of members of the now defunct Grateful Dead rock group.

Two women have been charged in the recent stabbing deaths of two young children at a Germantown townhouse - in what Montgomery County police said was an attempt at an exorcism. Police on Saturday said Monifa Denise Sanford, 21, of Germantown was charged with first degree murder and attempted murder after being released from a hospital. Police had charged the children's mother, Zakieya Latrice Avery, 28, with first degree murder and attempted murder on Friday. Both women are being held without bond.

Police in Baltimore County have charged a teenager with attempted second degree murder after he allegedly rammed a stolen minivan into a police car and attempted to run over an officer early Saturday. Antonio Rashad Green, 16, was driving a 2003 white Dodge Caravan on Bristol and Stoneleigh Roads in Towson at about 1:27 a.m. when an officer stopped him, police said. Before the officer could get out of the car, the minivan reversed and banged into the front of the police car before speeding off, according to a police statement.

Two people were arrested and charged with theft Tuesday afternoon after they allegedly tried to steal $58 worth of videotapes from an Ames department store in the 8100 block of Ritchie Highway. One suspect allegedly assaulted an Ames employee while trying to escape, police said.Christine Bury, 24, of the 2100 block of Welhem St., was charged with theft and assault. A 15-year-old girl was charged as a juvenile with theft.

An Arbutus man has been arrested and charged with sex offenses for allegedly attacking a 23-year-old Elkridge woman while she slept in her bedroom Saturday morning.The victim said that she and some friends had gone out the previous night and had returned to her home.Police said the suspect, who had met the victim through mutual friends a few hours earlier, entered the victim's bedroom at 6 a.m. and woke her while kissing and fondling her. The woman screamed and resisted the attack, freed herself and called police.

A 22-year-old man was being held on $20,000 bond yesterday after he was arrested and charged with breaking into a New Windsor house in October.Charles Billings of the first block of Charles St. in Westminster is charged with stealing a 12-gauge shotgun, a .22-caliber pistol and a machete-type knife from the home of John Hammond on Oct. 4.Tfc. TOWSON -- Baltimore County police have charged a 22-year-old Essex man with the rape and near fatal beating of a 26-year-old Chase woman who was found crawling from a wooded area off Bourque Road in Middle River early Friday morning.A man originally arrested and charged with the crime has been released.Police said Byron M. A Dundalk man's missing persons case, which police have investigated since September, has been ruled a homicide, and a grand jury has charged two Middle River residents with the killing. Jeffrey Jennings, 57, of the 8100 block of Gray Haven Road, was reported missing on Sept. 15, when Jennings' son called police and said he hadn't heard from his father in nearly a week, according to police. Detectives from Baltimore County's Missing Persons Unit launched a months-long investigation, police said, and intercepted communications between John Leschefsky, 27, of Middle River and others that led police to believe Jennings was the victim of murder.

Two motorists were arrested and charged with drunken driving at a Howard County sobriety checkpoint late Saturday, police said in a statement, adding that officers also arrested two more drivers on other charges. Police said that of the 858 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint - which was in force into the early-morning hours Sunday on eastbound MD Route 175 at Columbia Gateway Drive - seven were pulled over for examination. Two of the drivers were arrested and charged with driving under the influence, police said.

The 22-year-old man whom Baltimore County police suspect of being involved in a stabbing on Saturday turned himself in to the Pikesville Precinct Tuesday afternoon, a department spokesman said. Kedric Lamont Seay, and another suspect, Mariah Morgan, 19, identified by police as Seay's girlfriend, are in custody. Morgan has been charged with attempted murder, armed carjacking and other counts. She is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. Police spokesman Lt. Robert McCullough said Seay will be charged with assault with intent to murder and carjacking.

Police in Anne Arundel County were looking for a 19-year-old man in connection with a stabbing Monday evening at a Taco Bell restaurant in Edgewater. A girl, 17, who police say was with him at the time of the incident, was arrested shortly afterward. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Tyrell Markell Dailey of the 100 block of Tydings Drive in Edgewater. The warrant charges Dailey with attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Man, 28, is charged in fatal shooting of teen Police said they have arrested and charged a 28-year-old man in the fatal shooting Jan. 28 of a teenager in Northwest Baltimore. Dewayne Lawrence, 17, was sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle as it pulled out of the Cedonia Inn in the 5900 block of Moravia Road when a gunman fired numerous rounds into the vehicle, police said. Lawrence was struck at least once in the head. Although police did not provide a motive, a spokesman said it appeared that Lawrence was not the intended target.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office wants a man in New York to be extradited to Maryland for questioning in the fatal shooting of a taxi driver. Rashawn Smith, 19, of Aberdeen is jailed in New York on unrelated charges, a sheriff's spokesman said last night. He is wanted for questioning in the fatal shooting of Derald Howard Guess, who was killed Dec. 8 in Edgewood. Two men have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the killing of the father of nine. Smith also faces an attempted-murder charge in an arrest warrant issued by Aberdeen police in connection with a separate incident, the spokesman said.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a man in Pumphrey on Tuesday, Anne Arundel County police said yesterday. Daniel Lawson, of no fixed address, was arrested in Glen Burnie yesterday on charges of first- and second-degree murder. Police said he formerly lived in Baltimore and frequents the Pumphrey area. Police responding to a report of an assault and home invasion in the first block of Nann Ave. at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday found the body of James William Fabian, 36, of the 4200 block of Twin Circle Way in Halethorpe.

Three men charged in warrants with three separate and unrelated homicides in Baltimore were arrested within 24 hours by members of the Regional Warrant Apprehension Task Force, police said. One arrest took place in Baltimore County. The most recent arrest was of Leroy Adams, 18, of the 4100 block of Kinsway in Northeast Baltimore, police said. Adams is charged with the first-degree murder of Demetrius Burnette, who was shot to death about midnight June 7 while walking toward his home in the 3600 block of Bonview Ave., police said.
