Under Armour, which has wooed consumers with sweat-wicking T-shirts and other innovations, is banking on a new fabric that conforms to the foot like a second skin to help the company break into the crowded athletic shoe market. The Baltimore-based athletic wear maker is promoting its newly developed ClutchFit - a lightweight, stretch material designed to move with the foot without bunching or binding - as one of its latest innovations. And it's betting the technology will revolutionize shoes across multiple sports and pay off in a bigger share of the booming footwear market.

A body was pulled from the Inner Harbor Tuesday afternoon near Under Armour headquarters - at least the 11 t h time since October that someone has been found dead in the waters around downtown. Few details were immediately available pending an autopsy, but police confirmed the body was retrieved around 2:17 p.m. off of the 1800 block of Hull St., where there is a water taxi pickup spot. Police do not specifically count or track the deaths of people who are found in the Inner Harbor.

Under Armour has agreed to a multi-year partnership with Fight For Children, a non-profit working to improve early childhood and K-12 education. The Baltimore-based sports apparel brand said Tuesday it will serve as the presenting sponsor of the group's annual Fight Night fundraising event, now in its 25 t h year. The Washington fund-raiser attracts 2,000 attendees from business, government, entertainment and community service for a night of entertainment and professional boxing.

An Iowa-based real estate investment group has closed on a 352,850-square-foot Anne Arundel County warehouse occupied by Under Armour. The building, located at 7629 Gambrills Cove Road and known as Brandon Woods II, fetched $26.475 million from buyer Principal Real Estate Investors, according to a news release from real estate services firm CBRE, which arranged the sale. The last arms-length sale of the property occurred in 2000, when the property sold for $20.5 million. “The Under Armour tenancy, Class A quality of the building, and proximity to the Port of Baltimore combined to make this asset a highly desirable offering for the Baltimore-Washington Corridor market.

Nine girls from the Baltimore area were named Under Armour All-Americans on Monday and will play for the South team in the ninth annual Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic at Towson University's Johnny Unitas Stadium on July 12 at 7:30 p.m. No. 1 McDonogh placed two players on the team, attacker Megan Whittle and defender Steffani Holmes, although Holmes won't play because of an injury. Four more came from the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference: Molly Cobb, Notre Dame Prep; Cece Finney, Roland Park; Lauren Hudson, Maryvale; and Amanda Ignacio, Mount de Sales.

Seven senior lacrosse standouts from the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference have been selected to participate in the 2014 Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic, set for 5 p.m. on July 12 at Towson University's Johnny Unitas Stadium. Representing the South team will be Shack Stanwick, Tally Bruno and Keegan O'Connor from Boys' Latin;  McDonogh's Alex Hurdle and Brinton Valis; William McBride from Gilman and St. Paul's Mikey Wynne. The complete rosters for both the South and North teams will be released on Monday.

Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank is far from alone in believing the relatively young Baltimore-based company has a shot at becoming the world's biggest sports brand. Among nearly 200 shareholders who crowded into the company's Locust Point headquarters for its annual meeting Tuesday were more than a few who shared the founder's enthusiasm. "The important thing about this company is one word: 'innovative,'" said Frank Altoz, a shareholder from Catonsville. "As long as they keep doing that, the stock will be going up. " Shares of Under Armour have soared 65 percent in the past year.

Under Armour will give $10 million to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital to create the Under Armour LiveWell Center, marking the Baltimore-based sports brand's largest gift ever to any group. Part of Under Armour's "Power in Pink Campaign," a breast cancer awareness program, the money will be used to build and outfit a state-of-the-art breast-health center in Kimmel's planned new facility, the Skip Viragh Outpatient Cancer Building. The patient care building, which Hopkins announced Tuesday and named for a Maryland mutual fund innovator who died of pancreatic cancer in 2003, is slated to open in 2017.

A Florida supplements company that calls its products Inner Armour is violating Under Armour's trademarks, the sportswear manufacturer alleged in a federal lawsuit filed Tuesday. In a complaint illustrated with pictures of the allegedly offending products, Under Armour says the supplements company has been mimicking its advertising videos and in some cases dressing models in a mix of Inner Armour-branded clothes and Under Armour gear. "As a result of defendant's use of Inner Armour in connection with its products, activities, and promotions, consumers are likely to believe defendant and/or its products are made, approved, or licensed by Under Armour," the company's lawyers wrote.

The controversy over whether Under Armour's high-tech skinsuits contributed to U.S. speedskaters' poor showing at the Sochi Olympics seemed over when the Baltimore-based sports brand renewed its sponsorship of the sport through two more Winter Olympics and said the suits would be back. That deal was announced even before the end of the February games. Now, US Speedskating has identified factors that led to athletes' failure to medal, and the design of the suits is not among them, Ted Morris, executive director, said Friday.
