Andrew Valmon understands how to compartmentalize a schedule. Coaching six different Maryland athletic teams the past seven years has ensured as much. But even an expert could hardly prepare for the organizational nightmare Valmon has undertaken the past nine months. Since learning in November that the Terps men's program was one of eight Maryland teams on the chopping block for budgetary concerns, the U.S. men's track and field coach's days have been a seemingly endless cycle of phone calls, practices and meetings.

A notorious Baltimore restaurant scammer -- who would fake seizures to avoid paying the check -- has recently been released from prison, according to a police alert warning restaurants that the man is back in circulation. On Thursday evening, a patron allegedly perpetrating a similar scam was busted at Chazz: A Bronx Original, according to social media reports. Police say that Andrew Palmer, 45, whose last known address was in the block of 500 S. Broadway, recently completed an 18-month sentence.

After leading the Baltimore Bays Chelsea under-18/18 club to a 3-0 mark at the U.S. Soccer Develpment Academy playoffs last week, goalie Andrew Harris (Gilman) and striker Mike Gamble (McDonogh) were named to Top Drawer Soccer's Best XI for the tournament. In winning Group 8 and advancing to the Finals Week, set for July 16-23 in Houston, Harris finished with a 0.66 goals against and Gamble scored two goals in the three wins.  Both players will play at Wake Forest in the fall.

Already visiting their family in nearby Baltimore, Andrew and Aaron Harrison , the nation's No. 3- and No. 6-ranked prospects in the class of 2013 according to 247Sports, stopped by College Park on Tuesday afternoon for an impromptu unofficial visit. The twins toured Comcast Center - but not the entire campus - with their grandparents, spoke with coach Mark Turgeon and assistant Bino Ranson and watched a team practice.

Andrew Zimmern's Baltimore adventures continued on Tuesday. Zimmern is spending three days filming material for a Baltimore episode of his popular Travel Channel show "Bizarre Foods America. " The sixth season of "Bizarre Foods America," premieres on July 9, but the Baltimore episode is part of the seventh season, which won't begin until sometime this fall. Zimmern has been Tweeting out a steady diary of his visit to Baltimore and the Eastern Shore, and most of this Tweets have links to beautiful Instagram images.

She is a lawyer with Community Law Center, Inc., which represents organizations working on neighborhood revitalization efforts. Her father, Gary Schoppert, is a retired general dentist. Her mother, Joan Schoppert, is a recently retired assistant professor of English at Notre Dame of Maryland University, although she is still teaching there part-time. His story: Andrew Devereux, 38, grew up in Charlottesville, Va., and now lives in Los Angeles, where he is finishing a post-doctoral fellowship at UCLA.

Harford County Restaurant Week continues through Sunday, and Maryland Wine Week continues through June 18. And here come the tall ships, and hundreds of thousands of tourists. Start picking. The summer edition of Baltimore Restaurant Week returns on July 27, and the event's website is scheduled to go live on Monday . About 65 restaurants have signed up to participate so far, but the number is sure to grow. Dur­ing the 10-day event, partic­ipating restaurants will offer three-course fixed-price dinner menus for either $20.12 or $30.12 (but not both)

Chef Andrew Zimmern has been to the far corners of the globe. He's known for eating everything from weird animal parts to the oddest regional dishes. And yet, what he couldn't stomach, apparently, was a stay at th e Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay.
