A STROLL DOWN memory lane is an enjoyable pastime for most of us, but for an estimated 4 million Americans stricken with Alzheimer's, such a stroll is impossible.To raise awareness of the disease and funds to continue research, the Central Maryland Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is sponsoring a Memory Walk/Run on Oct. 3 in Sykesville.The route begins at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Main Street and continues along scenic River Road. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the event starts at 9 a.m.Last year's event in Carroll County drew about three dozen participants and raised more than $3,500.

On December 19, 2009, in Rockville, MD, HELEN R. TURNER wife of the late Thomas K. Turner, Sr. She is survived by sons, Thomas K. Turner, Jr., and his wife Carole and Stephen J. Turner and his wife Margaret. Also surviving are five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 16420 South Westland Drive, Gaithersburg, MD, 20877 on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 2 P.M. On Friday, April 10, 2009, MARY JANE (nee Davis) CARDUFF, devoted wife of William F. Carduff, died peacefully of complications due to Alzheimer's disease. She was also survived by daughters Sharon M. Caruso and her husband Dave; grandchildren Geoffrey, Courtney, Susan M. Cessna and her husband Brian; grandsons Branden and Matthew, Kathleen M. Cessna, and granddaughters Jennifer, Kimberly and Lindsay. Due to the fact that her body was donated to the Anatomy Board, there will be a memorial mass on Monday, April 13th, 11 A.M. at St. John's Neumann Church in Berlin, MD. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made on her behalf to the Alzheimer's Association.
