A recent development in WWE's storytelling seems more like lyrics from a early 1990s hip hop song than anything we've seen in recent years: tag teams, back again. WWE fans have been clamoring for the revitalization of a tag team division for months, if not years, and their wish finally seems to be coming true. While Kofi Kingston and R-Truth did a good job alongside Primo and Epico and the Prime Time Players to rebuild a solid foundation, it has been since Kane and Daniel Bryan won the titles that the focus has become clear.

Sunday night's WWE Hell in a Cell had been one of the most talked about pay-per-views in recent memory. Not all the talk was good, as many expected this show to completely bomb. I fell somewhere in the middle. I didn't expect an atrocity, but I didn't expect a show of the year contender. What WWE treated fans to was a pleasant surprise. A new World Heavyweight Champion was crowned, and a number of other stories were further developed through the night. Overall, this was more of a transition show than anything else, but it still delivered in the ring and came out of nowhere as a show that will certainly be talked about even more in the future.

Two major developments unfolded on Monday's episode of WWE RAW. The first was a big one in many ways - Paul Heyman revealed a new client, Michael McGillicutty, now known as Curtis Axel (Curtis after his father "Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig, Axel after his grandfather Larry "The Axe" Hennig). Though many fans complained about it not being a bigger name (RVD was speculated throughout the day), this is a great move and an even greater opportunity for a superstar to not only have instant credibility being aligned with Paul Heyman (arguably the greatest mouthpiece in pro wrestling history)

A "go home" Raw (the last episode before a pay-per-view event) is always watched with extra attention, mostly because critics have the same question -- did this particular show do anything to increase my interest in buying the pay-per-view on Sunday? Lately, many of these critics have answered no. Many people feel that Raw last night was no different -- that it was flat, lacked spark and didn't do very much to push the figurative "buy rate" needle. These, of course, are criticisms that always arise for this particular (mostly monthly)

If Paramount Pictures is searching for the perfect new summer blockbuster, they may want to take a look at "The Curious Case of Alberto Del Rio. " After failing to defeat Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank, many believed -- and several hoped -- Del Rio's time in the title picture had come to a close. Randy Orton was returning from injury, bringing back another legitimate main event star and filling a void at the top of the card. But WWE showed it wasn't quite done with the Del Rio experiment yet. Del Rio defeated Rey Mysterio soundly, earned a rematch for the world title and declared he was above the competition and wouldn't compete until his next world title match at SummerSlam.

The card for next month's No Way Out pay-per-view continued to take shape after Friday night's episode of Smackdown, but recent events have parts of the show left with question marks. Alberto Del Rio defeated Randy Orton and Kane in a triple threat match to be crowned the No. 1 contender to the Sheamus' World Heavyweight Championship. But it is the other two participants in that match that are at the center of the most interesting scenarios leading into the next PPV event.

Here are my predictions for WWE Extreme Rules: BROCK LESNAR VS. TRIPLE H: CAGE MATCH I think Brock Lesnar needs the win here, because I see him continuing on for another big match, while I see Triple H returning in the future only if absolutely necessary. Perhaps Paul Heyman's "newest" client (or clients) interferes in this match, helping Lesnar get the win. Because it's a cage match, neither superstar has to be pinned or submitted, one can simply exit through the cage, which means that the loser doesn't look as weak in a loss.

The theme of Wrestlemania 29 might boil down to one word - predictable. The build up was certainly that for many fans. John Cena and The Rock were always destined to face off again at Wrestlemania 29, one year after they had their "Once in a Lifetime" matchup. Brock Lesnar and Triple H were always foreshadowed to clash on April 7, a rematch from Summerslam 2012 with unfinished business. Fantasy bookers early in "Wrestlemania season" were calling for CM Punk vs. The Undertaker, which also happened.

Yahoo has added another major property to its portfolio, Kanye West went dark and political for his SNL gig, and France is buying military equipment. Welcome to your post-weekend trends report for May 20, 2013. With the exception of television show reactions, most Internet attention this morning centers around Friday news. That includes France's Friday announcement that it is buying drones and Yahoo's announcement that it is buying Tumblr. Apparently only one of those decisions was unpopular enough to warrant NYT reaction coverage . As for weekend content: Kanye West gave what one Twitter user described as "the most terrifying PowerPoint presentation I've ever seen" on SNL Saturday.
