Age can be the worst enemy of a rock 'n' roll band.As the wrinkles and aches and pains come, down comes the quality of a live performance, especially when it entails the kind of energy that an AC/DC show packed around 1981.But this Aussie-tough quintet has somehow transcended the ordinary and managed to not only keep the enthusiasm but even improve upon it.Last night's two hour and 15 minute marathon at the Capital Centre featured all of the crafty perks from previous AC/DC tours (toy cannons, "Hells Bell," the patented Angus Young strip-tease)

As career changes go, nothing is as jarring as that which awaits major-leaguers. In days, most go from stardom to overseeing school car pools.Former Orioles pitcher Mike Boddicker spent parts of 14 seasons in the major leagues before retiring last year. From his home near Kansas City, Mo., Boddicker spoke with The Sun's Mark Hyman about issues that confront a recent retiree.Q: More than most players, you seemed tired of the baseball routine. FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Rain ended yesterday's game in the top of the eighth inning, assuring that the Montreal Expos would defeat the Orioles, 3-0. Expos starter Zach Day allowed two hits and faced the minimum number of batters through six innings. Rick Helling allowed two runs in the second inning on a balk with runners on the corners and an error on third baseman Tony Batista, who failed to catch Geronimo Gil's throw on Jose Macias' stolen base. Frustrated by the balk call and Batista's lapse, manager Mike Hargrove bolted from his chair beside the dugout and stormed into the clubhouse.

He's been a fixture around the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court House for 4 1/2 years, roaming its corridors, courtrooms, offices and parking garage, searching for explosives - though some would say he's really been looking for snacks. But this past week was the last one on the job for Levi, a black Labrador retriever and one of two bomb-sniffing dogs in the county Sheriff's Office. Levi, starting to gray around the muzzle, retired at the age of 9. "He's getting too old, a lot of aches and pains," said Deputy Sheriff Harry L. Neisser, a department spokesman.

Sometimes Catherine Bannerman feels like a sleuth in a white smock. The mysteries she unravels are the medical ills troubling her elderly patients -- part of the nation's growing senior population -- who seldom exhibit the same clear symptoms as younger patients. So Dr. Bannerman looks for the little things."If some little old lady comes in and says she doesn't feel quite right, it could be a whole host of things," said Dr. Bannerman, director of a senior health center. "People can feel not quite right and that can be a heart attack."

Sugar Ray Leonard said late Friday night at a Trump Plaza reception for the Boxer of the Decade banquet, an honor the six-time champion would ultimately win.But Leonard seemed more concerned with the rude greeting he received from Marvelous Marvin Hagler, who had dominated the middleweight division in the 1980s until his shocking upset by Leonard in April 1987 by a controversial split decision.It...

SEATTLE -- The Orioles can only wonder how good the club might be with an everyday Glenn Davis, but for now they must settle for an occasional flash of his substantial talent.Davis hit a pair of two-run home runs in Tuesday night's 13-8 victory over the Seattle Mariners, raising hope that he was about to re-assert himself as one of the premier power hitters in the game. But he was not in the lineup yesterday."He was a little stiff this morning, so I wanted to get him a day off after the night game," manager Johnny Oates said.
