Teresa D. Snyder, director of resident services at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, was licensed recently by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administration.She completed academic requirements of the University of North Carolina's independent studies program for long-term care administration and participated in the administrator-in-training program at Lutheran Village.Mrs. Snyder has a bachelor of arts degree in behavioral and social sciences from the University of Maryland and pursued graduate study in gerontology at Hood College.

Mychal Parker has finally found a place to play basketball next season. The former Terrapins men's basketball forward will attend Georgetown College, an NAIA school in Kentucky, according to CBSSports.com's Jeff Goodman. “Been informed former Maryland wing Mychal Parker is set to attend Georgetown [College], NAIA in Kentucky,” Goodman tweeted yesterday . Parker decided in April he wanted to transfer from Maryland , less than three weeks before he was suspended one year from the program for violating the university's student-athlete code of conduct.

Former Walbrook High Uniformed Services Academy Principal Andrey Bundley and city school officials have struck a deal that will allow him to remain a system employee, Bundley's attorney said yesterday. Attorney Warren A. Brown said that Bundley, who has been on leave since late July, would not be allowed to return to Walbrook but would not be fired. Brown said it was unclear what Bundley's new position or salary would be. School system officials did not return telephone calls seeking comment, but Brown said they would make an announcement today.

Scholarship fund gets grant, plans career conferenceThe Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Fund of Columbia has received a project grant from the Columbia Foundation and will sponsor a career-planning conference at Wilde Lake High School Jan. 23.The conference will be designed to provide about 150 ninth- and 10th-grade students with an overview of career opportunities, the academic requirements and the importance of preparing for the future.Role models will be presented, and a follow-up mentoring program is planned.

Former Dunbar basketball teammates Keith Booth and Donta Bright could meet as opponents next season when Maryland plays in a Christmas tournament at the University of Massachusetts.UMass coach John Calipari said yesterday that plans have been made -- though no contract has been signed -- for the Terrapins to play in the tournament. The teams would not meet in the opening round, but could meet in the final."The other two schools aren't set, but Maryland is coming," Calipari said yesterday from Amherst.

Sean Mosley, the talented 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Baltimore (St. Frances) who was recently academically admitted to the University of Maryland, has been approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse, Maryland senior associate athletic director Kathleen Worthington said yesterday. Mosley becomes the 10th scholarship player for the Terps, who earlier this summer saw freshman center Gus Gilchrist and recruit Tyree Evans, also a shooting guard, released from their scholarship commitments. Gilchrist, who has yet to play in a college game, has since transferred to South Florida.

Mychal Parker will not finish his college basketball career at Loyola. According to a source close to the Greyhounds, Parker did not fulfill his academic requirements during his last semester at Maryland, rendering him ineligible to play for Loyola. The source said Parker, who has two years of eligibility remaining, could end up at a Division II or NAIA school. Parker, a four-star prospect coming out of the Miller School in Charlottesville, Va., selected the Terps over several ACC and Big East schools in 2010.

Steve Thomas, an All-Metro forward at Walbrook High who is spending this school year at New Hampton (N.H.) Prep, says he will sign a basketball letter of intent with Towson State when the late-signing period begins Wednesday.Thomas, a four-year varsity player at Walbrook, was recruited by the Tigers as a senior, but did not meet the NCAA academic requirements for freshman eligibility. He has raised his Scholastic Aptitude Test score to 740 and will have four years of eligibility at Towson State.

The University of Maryland has received an oral commitment from Lovett Purnell, a fullback and linebacker from Valley Forge Military Academy in Pennsylvania, Valley Forge coach Jim Burner said yesterday.Purnell, 6 feet 3, 200 pounds, rushed for 534 yards and five touchdowns on 83 carries last season and made 39 tackles as an outside linebacker. He made only two official college visits, choosing Maryland over West Virginia.Purnell is at least the ninth player to commit to Maryland before the Feb. 5 early-signing date.
