The owner of a downtown 7-Eleven that was attacked by a mob of youths drawn by a free Slurpee promotion says an envelope filled with the day's receipts — $6,600 in cash — went missing during the melee, according to Baltimore police. Salman Iqbal told police that the money was in his front right shirt pocket while he was being attacked Wednesday afternoon after he confronted up to 40 youths wearing yellow school shirts and khaki pants. He reported that some youths had stolen candy from the store on Light Street, near the Inner Harbor.

A crowd of "unruly" school kids rushed into a downtown 7-Eleven store about 2 p.m. Wednesday for a free "Slurpee" promotion, and didn't leave until they'd caused a commotion — allegedly shoplifting and getting into a physical altercation with the store owner. According to police, between 20 and 30 middle school students rushed into the store near the intersection of Light and East Pratt streets all at once for the special promotion of the frozen drinks, called "SlurpFREE Day. " The company said the event was to promote its new sugar-free version of the drink, and to "launch the upcoming Slurpee season.

A Pasadena teenager pleaded guilty Thursday to two murders after prosecutors and defense lawyers belatedly learned that he admitted several months ago to a deputy sheriff that he had shot one of the victims. The plea by Vincent Ethan Bunner, now 18, ended his trial on first-degree murder and related counts in the Nov. 12, 2010 fatal shooting of Misael Flores during a botched robbery. Prosecutors said Bunner's disclosure to an Anne Arundel County deputy sheriff came as he was being transported within the courthouse for a pretrial hearing.

Sitting on a bus in Honduras in 2002, Denis Alvarez Alvarado says he overheard two men in front of him discussing how he was going to die. Unaware that he was there, the men said that members of a gang called MS3 — who had kidnapped Alvarez a few days earlier, beaten him and eventually released him — intended to silence him so that he would not tell police about the abduction. "I left Honduras because I was afraid that MS3 members would kill me," Alvarez, now 32, says in court documents drawn up in his legal fight against the U.S. government to avoid deportation to his native country.

Baltimore County Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman involved in the April robbery of a 7-Eleven store in Catonsville. Police say the woman attempted to rob a cashier of the convenience store in the 1100 block of Ingleside Avenue at 4:20 a.m. Thursday, April 21. After entering the store, the woman displayed a handgun and demanded money before fleeing on foot when a customer arrived, according to a release. Nothing was stolen, according to a release from county police.

Two of four teenagers charged in the killing of a man during a holdup at a Glen Burnie take-out restaurant are now facing additional first-degree murder charges — this time in the summertime slaying of a clerk at a 7-Eleven in Glen Burnie. Vincent Ethan Bunner, 17, of the 100 block of Dunlap Road in Pasadena and Shawn Anthony Johnson, 18, of the 7800 block of Windbourne Drive in Glen Burnie were charged Tuesday in the second fatal shooting, Anne Arundel County police said.

A 48-year-old store clerk was shot and killed early Monday during an apparent robbery attempt at a 7-Eleven store in Glen Burnie, police reported. The victim, Youssef Kamal Erian Attia, was gunned down as he tried to flee from three men who had entered the store and announced a robbery, according to an account issued by the Anne Arundel County Police Department. Officers were summoned to the convenience store on the 7700 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard at about 3:30 a.m. in response to a report of a sick or injured person.
