Christopher J. Rosendale Sr., former owner and editor of the Bay Times, a Stevensville weekly, died Monday of an apparent stroke at his farm in the Centreville area. He was 65 and had long been ill with arthritis.Mr. Rosendale, who had lived in Stevensville for many years, started the paper in 1963 and sold it in 1974.In 1972, he became the first newspaper editor or reporter to gain previously secret information, in this case on nonsupport cases, by suing under the state's Public Information Law, which had been enacted two years earlier.

McCoy has graduated from the tactical aircraft maintenance specialist course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita, Texas.

McLean, who graduated from St. Mary's HighSchool in 1987, recently reported for duty with the 3rd Assault Amphibious Battalion, 1st Marine Division, based at Camp Pendleton, Calif.He is a 1991 graduate of Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va., who joined the Marine Corps that same year.PRIVATES FINISH TRAININGArmy National Guard Pvt. Thomas D. Wilkinson and Regular Army Pvt. Michael C. Arrington, have completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.Wilkinson is a 1988 graduate of Annapolis Senior High School.

Marine Pfc. Matthew J. Friedel, son of Larry J. and Elizabeth N. Friedel of Taneytown, recently completed infantry training. During the course at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C., students receiveclassroom instruction and participate in field exercises involving infantry tactics, construction and camouflage positions, and the use of mines, demolitions and communications equipment. A 1991 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School, Friedel joined the Marine Corps in June 1991.
