Police said someone also tried to steal a 1992 Honda Accord by popping out its ignition Sunday morning, police said.3100 block of Normandy Woods Drive: A dark blue 1994 Honda Prelude with Maryland tags ZJT 750 was stolen Saturday or Sunday. Also, police said, a thief stole a green 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier with Maryland tags AYR 740 Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Baltimore City Northeastern District Shooting: A 16-year-old male was shot in the back about 5:20 p.m. yesterday and was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital for a nonlife-threatening wound. Details were not available. Eastern District Theft/arrest: Police responding to a burglary in progress report in the 1300 block of N. Luzerne Ave. on Friday night spotted a man standing in the doorway.

BALTIMORE CITY* BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A television and videocassette recorder, all valued at nearly $500, were stolen from a house in the 2400 block of Bridgehampton Drive Tuesday.* THEFT: Northeastern District -- Two radial tires and rims, all valued at $300, were stolen from a car parked in the 3900 block of Erdman Ave. Monday or Tuesday.* THEFT: Northeastern District -- Someone entered a 1980 Nissan parked in the 3500 block of Chesterfield Ave. Monday and stole tools valued at nearly $1,000.

Two men held employees of a Columbia jewelry store at gunpoint Sunday and robbed the store, Howard County police said.The robbers entered Edward Arthur Jeweler in The Mall in Columbia about 2: 15 p.m., said Sgt. Steven Keller of the Howard County Police Department. They ordered four employees to lie on the floor and then took an unspecified amount of jewelry. The men ran from the store. No one was injured.One of the robbers was described as a black male, 35 to 40 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, with a thin build.

Crash probed after man dies of cardiac arrestHoward County police are investigating a two-car collision Thursday in which a 48-year-old motorist who had appeared to be uninjured later suffered a fatal heart attack.About an hour after the 6:10 p.m. accident, Theodore Irving Smith of the 3900 block of White Rose Way in Ellicott City, went to Howard County General Hospital complaining of chest pains and later died, police said.A medical examiner performed an autopsy to determine exactly how he died and if the cardiac arrest was related to the accident, said Sgt. Gary L. Gardner, a county police spokesman.

A former Oakland Mills High School student has filed a lawsuit against the Howard County Board of Education and two physical education instructors for injuries she received in a weightlifting accident in January.Kim Lee, 17, of Baltimore is seeking $500,000 in damages for the incident in which weights crashed down on her and crushed her throat and jaw, according to the lawsuit filed in Howard Circuit Court Sept. 28.In addition to the school board, Ms. Lee has named instructors Samuel Singleton and Brian Winfield as defendants.

Mount St. Joseph High junior Erik Endler of Ellicott City attended the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., last month.The National Young Leaders Conference is a leadership development program for outstanding high school students who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit.Erik was among 350 students from across the country who attended the conference from Oct. 12-17.The theme of this year's program was "The Leaders of Tomorrow Meeting the Leaders of Today."
