An elderly woman died in a fire at a three-story Hampden home just blocks away from a city firehouse Sunday night, the Baltimore Fire Department said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital, fire spokesman Capt. Roman Clark said Monday. He said she had not yet been identified by Monday morning. Officials do not have the exact age but said she was an elderly woman.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 3900 block of Roland Ave. at 10:03 p.m. and the first two units arrived on the scene at 10:05 p.m., Clark said. The fire was under control by 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
