'Law & Order: SVU' pulls from Ray Rice scandal

September 30, 2014|By Wesley Case | The Baltimore Sun

Primetime TV often weaves high-profile, real-life events into its narratives, and on Wednesday's episode of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," the scandal involving former Ravens running back Ray Rice will be the latest headline to receive fictionalized treatment.

Based on the above preview, the episode, titled "American Disgrace," appears to deal with rape and a cover-up involving a celebrity pro-athlete named Shakir "The Shark" Wilkins. The clip also shows an altercation via faux elevator "security footage," which will remind many viewers of the TMZ-released video of Rice knocking out his now-wife Janay Rice, as well as the video of Beyonce's sister, Solange, confronting Jay Z.

The episode airs 9 p.m. Wednesday on NBC.
