Man shot in Broadway East

One critically injured on Baltimore's east side

September 28, 2014|By Colin Campbell | The Baltimore Sun

A man was critically injured in a shooting in Broadway East Sunday, Baltimore police said.

The victim was shot as he got out of a car just before 4 p.m. in the 2300 block of E. Oliver St. in the East Baltimore neighborhood, police said.

Officers were called, but the victim had gotten back into the car and gone to a local hospital, police said. They found him there — in critical condition with life-threatening injuries — roughly a half hour later.

Police mistakenly reported another victim had nonfatal injuries in the shooting. That man was not shot, a department spokeswoman said Sunday evening. She cited dispatcher error for the inaccurate report.

Neighbors looked on from their front stoops and the 12 O'Clock Boys zoomed up nearby N. Patterson Park Avenue on their motorbikes as investigators scanned the street for clues in the Sunday afternoon shooting.

Police did not release any suspect or motive information.

Because of the severity of the victim's injuries, homicide detectives are investigating, and anyone with information may call 410-396-2100.
