Weekly Maryland recruiting roundup

In this week’s recruiting roundup, the Terps don't make the cut for a new guard target.

Football recruiting

-- Class of 2015 quarterback commit Gage Shaffer had two touchdown passes in a 50-14 win last Friday.

-- Class of 2015 athlete commit Ty Johnson had nine carries for 75 yards and two touchdowns in a 44-22 win last Friday.

-- Class of 2015 linebacker commit Brett Zanotto had 13 carries for 187 yards and a 56-yard touchdown run in a 34-20 win last Friday. Said his coach: “The team plays at a whole different level when he's on the field than when he's not. That's a kid who loves football and just wants to win. I can't say enough about him."

-- Class of 2015 athlete commit Mike Majette was 9-for-16 passing for 146 yards and a touchdown and had a last-minute, game-winning, 6-yard touchdown run in a 21-14 win last Friday.

-- Class of 2015 defensive back commit Darnell Savage had 78 rushing yards, including a 51-yard touchdown run, in a 34-14 loss to Archbishop Curley last Friday. Watch recent game highlights here and here.

-- Stats aren’t available for Class of 2015 wide receiver commit D.J. Moore from a 58-20 win last Friday, but you can watch game highlights — receiving scores from 70, 50, 61 and 2 yards out — here.

-- Class of 2015 defensive end target Austrian Robinson reportedly has Maryland as his leader.

-- Maryland is reaching into the Tampa, Fla., area in search of the next Will Likely(s).

Basketball recruiting

-- Class of 2015 guard target Perry Dozier Jr.,  a top-25 player who recently had listed Maryland among his top schools, reportedly will take his fifth and final official visit to Louisville, essentially eliminating the Terps from contention.
