I'm keeping my Ray Rice jersey [Letter]

September 24, 2014

Kudos to all of those mistake-free, perfect folk who stood in line Friday and Saturday to turn in their Ray Rice jerseys ("Fans line up to turn in their Ray Rice jerseys at M&T Bank Stadium," Sept. 19). I did not know there were so many folk qualified to "cast the first stone" by dint of having never done anything wrong. I wonder how they would handle a "spit in the face" after a night of drinking alcohol with their significant other: would reflex action come into play or would they be like Jesus and do nothing?

Ray Rice was forgiven by his now wife, Janay; the reason why is her business. God, the ultimate judge, will forgive him, and so do I. To crucify, hang out to dry, brow beat, kill by inches Ray Rice by making him the poster boy for domestic violence is wrong, wrong, wrong.

Sun TV critic David Zurawik may be happy that TMZ sports exists to pay money for a security video, but to ruin this man's life and take down "Ravens Nation" is to me despicable. I hope whoever received the blood money will enjoy every penny. I say, a pox on their house. Mr. Rice made a huge mistake in the heat of the moment. For me, case closed, I'm keeping my No. 27 jersey.
