Maryland accounting firm to merge with CohnReznick

Bethesda-based accounting, tax and consulting firm Watkins Meegan LLC will combine its practice with one of the country's leading firms, New York-based CohnReznick LLP, in an agreement expected to take effect Nov. 1.

The combined firm is expected to have annual revenues of $600 million, nearly 300 partners, about 2,750 employees and 28 offices. Founded in 1975, Watkins Meegan also has offices in Annapolis and Herndon and Tysons Corner, Va. CohnReznick, the nation's 10th largest accounting firm, has offices in Baltimore and Bethesda.

"We are continually looking at quality firms whose specialties complement our own," said Ken Baggett, co-CEO of CohnReznick, in a news release. "Watkins Meegan is a firm we have known for a number of years and have admired from a distance."

Mike Micholas, Watkins Meegan's managing partner, who will continue as a senior manager in the region, said "we are very excited about what this combination means for our ability to serve our clients and our employees in the future."
