Varsity roundup: No. 8 Century tops N. Carroll in field hockey

Mandie Trostle scored two goals to lead visiting No. 8 Century (4-1-1) over North Carroll, 2-1, on Monday in a field hockey matchup in Carroll County.

Kassie Kavoukas and Marissa Donoghue each had an assist for the Knights, while Caitie Pluta recorded nine saves. Mia Heindell scored on an assist from Meghan Harman for the Panthers. Century led 1-0 at the half.

No. 12 Mount Hebron 2, Fallston 1: Ally Unkenholz and Hannah Schied led the host Vikings (4-3) over the Cougars in nonconference play. Erica Wright scored for Fallston.

South Carroll 8, Brunswick 0: Lexi Rose led all scorers with four goals as the Cavaliers shut out the visiting Railroaders. The game's other goals were scored by Kayla Mazalewski, Lizzie Rose, Emmy Quinn and Holly Knopp. Goalie Eno Baffoe had 16 saves for Brunswick.

Boys soccer

No. 10 Bel Air 3, Annapolis 0: Evan Reinhardt, Zach Memmo and Logan Szekalski scored in the second half as the Bobcats (6-0) shut out the visiting Panthers. Bel Air's Garrett Lorenz had three saves, recording his fourth shutout.

Archbishop Curley 3, No. 12 Archbishop Spalding 2, 3OT: The Friars went to Anne Arundel County and upset the Cavaliers (5-4) in a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference game. Tre Pulliam had two goals for Curley, and Dylan Holy scored one. Hunter Alchin and Michael Berhane scored for Spalding. Elton Schwartz had five saves for the Friars.

Girls volleyball

Patterson Mill 3, Joppatowne 0: Kenna Garman had two kills and 11 aces, and the Huskies beat the host Mariners in Harford County league play.

Caroline Sprow added five assists and seven aces, Sarah Alders had five kills, and Kyrsten LeLand had a kill, five assists and four aces. The scores were 25-5, 25-11 and 25-12.

North Harford 3, Harford Tech 2: Jenna Hathazi had four aces, five kills and six assists as the visiting Hawks beat the Cobras in Harford County action.

Karizma Hockaday had three aces, six kills and one block, while Jonna Maddox had an ace, two kills and a block, and Bailee Richman pitched in with two aces, three kills and a block. The scores were 22-25, 20-25, 25-12, 25-19 and 15-13.
