Shoe City to open five stores in the Baltimore area

Regional retailer Shoe City plans to open five new stores, including three Baltimore-area locations.

The athletic footwear and apparel chain signed leases in Eastpoint Mall, Erdman Shopping Center and Edgewater Village Shopping Center, H&R Retail, the chain's real estate brokerage firm, said Monday. The new stores, which also include locations in Landover and Hampton, Va., range in size from 5,000 square feet to 6,700 square feet.

Shoe City, which started in 1949 in Baltimore as Eileen Shoes and rebranded as Shoe City in 1980, now runs 33 stores in Maryland, Washington and Virginia.
