Boys & Girls Clubs

Volunteers are needed for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County to serve as tutors, mentors, assistants in computer labs, arts and crafts, sports coaching, administrative help and more. To volunteer, call 410-263-2542 or email volunteer@bgcaa.com. Information: bgcaa.org.

Historic London Town and Gardens

This Edgewater site seeks persons interested in history and/or horticulture to become docents, historic interpreters and gardeners. Volunteers give site tours, house tours or demonstrate Colonial crafts and daily life. They may also work in historic or ornamental gardens. Information: 410-222-1919, ext. 206. Literacy council

Tutors are needed to help combat adult illiteracy. After completing training, volunteers make their own schedule with an assigned student at a place of their choosing or can tutor at local detention centers. Hours are flexible and most work can be done at home. Information: 410-269-4419.

Medical center

Anne Arundel Medical Center needs volunteers 18 and older for day and evening hours, weekdays and weekends. Positions include patient interaction, customer service and retail assistance. Information: 443-481-5050.

Annapolis Optimist Club

Volunteers 18 and older are needed to help with the organization's youth-based programs, which include sports, Scouts, camps, charitable campaigns, teaming youth with law enforcement agencies and more. Information: 410-268-5878 or annapolisoptimist.org.
