Artist reception The Aloft BWI hotel and the Chesapeake Arts Center hosts a "Meet the Artist Reception" featuring Lexi Pline from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the hotel, 1741 West Nursery Road in Linthicum. Pline is a senior at the Performing and Visual Arts Magnet Program in Anne Arundel County's public schools. Her works of photography are on view in the hotel's main lobby through Sept. 30. Bay watch "Exploring Estuaries Day: Play on the Water" will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Jug Bay Wetland Sanctuary, 1361 Wrighton Road, Lothian. Take a pontoon boat ride, clean up the river by canoe, learn about migrating shorebirds, weave a toy duck from cattails and make a fish print. Free with $6 vehicle entrance fee. Festival The ninth annual Taste of Kent Narrows will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Chesapeake Heritage and Visitor Center, 425 Piney Narrows Road in Chester.
