Sephora officially opens Perryman warehouse

A new warehouse occupied by makeup giant Sephora Americas is set to officially open Friday in Perryman.

The 655,000-square-foot facility will serve as the distribution hub for all customers east of the Mississippi, officials said. The complex, financed in part by a $1 million state loan, consolidates operations from two smaller locations in Harford County, where it has operated since 2005.

"Our clients turn to Sephora not only for our vast product assortment, but also for our exceptional quality of service. As we continue to grow, our facilities must expand along with us in order to maintain a superior level of customer experience," Martin Flaherty, the firm's vice president of logistics, said in a statement.

Sephora, owned by Paris-based LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, currently has about 410 warehouse employees in Harford County. The company has more than 330 stores in the U.S. and Canada.

The firm plans to add 200 full-time workers at the Perryman location by December 2017, according to the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, which will forgive the loan if the firm meets performance benchmarks.

The build-to-suit center is owned by a joint venture of Ryan/Emory Properties and Northwestern Mutual Real Estate Investment, according to CBRE.
