A man's body was found floating Monday evening in the water under the Hanover Street bridge in South Baltimore, police said.

An officer was flagged down at 5:40 p.m. by a person who first saw the body. The Baltimore City Fire Department recovered the body from the water.

Police did not identify the victim, pending next-of-kin notification.

No obvious signs of foul play were apparent, police said. The man's body will be taken to the Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
