The NFL threw Ray Rice under the bus [Letter]

September 12, 2014

While I do not condone abuse of any kind, the Ray Rice drama is bigger than the Ravens franchise, or Coach John Harbaugh, or the circle of players who gather on their knees in the center of the field at the end of a game in prayerful thanks to a higher power.

One wonders how they missed John 8 in the Bible: "But when they continued asking him, he straightened up and said to them, 'Let the one among you who is without sin cast the first stone.'"

Are you telling me that Ray Rice is the first and only professional athlete to ever physically abuse a woman or another person? Why has the league singled him out to throw under the bus at the very time when he needs the mentoring and support of his peers?
