Man dies after double shooting in Baltimore

Second victim, a woman, in shooting on Cecil Avenue is expected to survive

A 29-year-old Baltimore man died in a double shooting that occurred in his neighborhood late Saturday night just a block away from Cecil Elementary School, city police reported.

Police arrived at Cecil Avenue and 22nd Street in the East Baltimore Midway neighborhood after receiving word of a shooting shortly before midnight. A male victim was found in the 2200 block of Cecil Avenue, shot in the left side of his torso. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5 a.m., police said.

Police identified the victim as Kevin Bass Jr., of the 2300 block of Cecil Avenue.

A second victim, a woman, walked into the emergency room at Johns Hopkins Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and is expected to survive, police said.

Police believe both victims were shot while attending a block party in the 2200 block of Cecil Ave. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-396-2100.
