Maryland forward Jake Layman will miss four-to-six weeks of summer workouts after breaking a bone in his left (non-shooting) hand, an athletic department spokesman said Thursday.

The injury occurred during a voluntary team pickup game this month.

Surgery was not required and Layman, who was the team's second-leading scorer last season as a sophomore, is expected back for workouts in September.
