Two men accused of stabbing a third in an elevator at the Shot Tower metro station this week were arrested Friday after an informant helped police identify them from surveillance images, the Maryland Transit Administration said.

The men, both 25, were apprehended with the victim's property in downtown Baltimore about noon, two hours after the informant came forward with information, said Paul Shepard, a MTA spokesman.

Police had first released the surveillance images on Thursday. The stabbing occurred Wednesday.

During the incident, a man using a wheelchair and another man assisting him were forced into an elevator by the two suspects, who have not been identified pending charges, Shepard said.

In the elevator, the man assisting his friend was punctured with a knife three times, Shepard said. The man using the wheelchair was not injured. Neither have been identified.

The suspects robbed both men of an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing, Shepard said.

The injured man was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was listed in serious but stable condition, Shepard said.

The Shot Tower station is located in the downtown area, with entrances on either side of South President Street near Port Discovery, Power Plant Live and Baltimore Police headquarters.
