Timonium man revived after body surfing incident

June 29, 2014

A 69-year-old Timonium man was rescued last week after a body surfing incident in Ocean City left him face down in the water, police said.

The victim was pulled out of the beach at 82 Street at around noon June 25, said Butch Arbin, captain of the Ocean City Beach Patrol. Crews were unable to find a pulse when they first pulled him ashore.

After several rounds of CPR, the man's pulse returned. He was also treated for facial abrasions and neck injuries. Police said he was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Arbin said an ocean wave had propelled the man face down, and he was likely rendered unconscious from the impact. A lifeguard pulled the man to safety minutes after the incident.

Police did not release the man's name.
