Recent New Town grad Danny Shand, an All-Metro second-team point guard, has committed to Division II Barton College in Wilson, N.C.

Shand averaged 15 points and eight assists to lead the No. 10 Titans to a 20-6 mark this past season.

Barton plays in the Conference Carolinas. This past year, the Bulldogs finished with a 17-11 mark.

"Danny's working really hard and has gotten even better," New Town coach Mike Daniel said. "Barton is one of the best D-II teams in the country and it's a good fit. They really, really wanted Danny."
