Harford County youth cash in during Freedoms' Youth Month celebration

June 23, 2014

Hundreds of kids of all ages took advantage of Freedom Federal Credit Union's Youth Month celebration throughout April. Every April marks Youth Month at Freedom, where financial management and education are highlighted to children and young adults under the age of 25.

Freedom offered new youth club account members the option to earn up to $25 through a matching deposit. Freedom also stressed the importance of saving through its Youth Savings Challenge. Youth club members, who make qualifying deposits between April and October, are automatically entered for a chance to win a new XBOX ONE gaming system. Youth members can earn up to seven entries, one for each month they meet the savings criteria.

Throughout April, youth members were also able to enter the piggy bank guessing contest at each branch. Closest guess to the number of items in the piggy banks at each Freedom branch won $50.

Youth Month was capped off with a Youth Day event held at Freedom's Park Avenue branch in Bel Air, which featured a face painter and balloon twister, and the chance for youth club members to grab money in the cash cube wind machine.

Nearly 100 new youth club members joined the credit union during the April promotion, taking positive steps to begin developing their financial future. Winners of the various contests and prizes can be viewed online at http://www.freedomfcu.org.
