The developers of 36 new apartments located on the grounds of the former Memorial Stadium plan to celebrate a grand opening Wednesday.

The Heritage Run at Stadium Place units, built by the Pennsylvania-based non-profit Presbyterian Senior Living, are open to adults ages 62 and up. Rent includes utilities, off-street parking, access to a fitness center and other perks.

Govans Ecumenical Development Corp. (GEDCO) is leading the development of Stadium Place, a mixed income retirement community that serves more than 360 seniors. The organization has invested more than $50 million in the site, where the first building opened in 2004, according to its website.

"We are pleased to be able to introduce this new dimension of senior housing to the campus," Presbyterian Senior Living CEO Stephen Proctor said in a statement. "Extending the ministry of Stadium Place in this way fulfills a primary objective of Presbyterian Senior Living - to offer housing and services to seniors across a wide economic spectrum within the community."
