Mount St. Joseph graduate Gavin Floyd taken out of Braves game with gross elbow injury

June 19, 2014|By Jonas Shaffer | The Baltimore Sun

Mount St. Joseph graduate and Atlanta Braves right-hander Gavin Floyd was pitching just fine Thursday night, until his right elbow sprouted something.

This is the same elbow Floyd had Tommy John surgery on last year.

The diagnosis, apparently, is a fractured olecranon, a funny word that I gather is used to describe the bony tip of the elbow. He could miss the rest of the season.

Floyd, who left his game against the Washington Nationals midway through the seventh inning after allowing two hits, is 2-2 with a 2.65 ERA in nine starts this season.
