A driver was killed and two passengers suffered serious injuries in single-vehicle crash into a tree in Glen Burnie on MD 10 North prior to Interstate 695 on Wednesday evening, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

Officials said police responded to the crash around 9:27 p.m. A preliminary investigation showed that the vehicle, a 2005 Scion tC, was traveling at a high rate of speed. Officials said the investigation revealed that the driver, Joseph Brandon Orange, 22, of Pasadena, failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

Officials said that the vehicle spun out of control and left the roadway where it ultimately struck a tree. Orange was pronounced dead at University of Maryland Shock Trauma at 10:26 p.m., officials said.

The two passengers in the vehicle were also transported to Shock Trauma, police said.

A passenger in the vehicle Justin Scott Conley, 20, of Pasadena, suffered incapacitating injuries but is stable, police said. Zachary Leonardi Payne, 21, of Pasadena is in critical condition.

Police said that excessive speed is the main contributing factor in the crash, which is under investigation.
