Ripken helps Hall of Fame celebrate its 75th anniversary
Former Oriole Cal Ripken Jr. helped the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., celebrate its 75th anniversary Thursday at a ceremony in the building's plaque gallery. "The coolness of this group comes in being with the group," Ripken said of his Hall of Fame brethren. "Just looking out over Otsego Lake and realizing what you've accomplished is the coolest thing in the world." The anniversary celebration will continue today with the opening of the museum's tribute to Baltimore-born slugger Babe Ruth titled "His Life and Legend."
NFL: The Ravens announced their class of five high school seniors who will be honored for academic achievement, extracurricular participation and community service. The following Ravens Scholars will be awarded a $5,000 renewable scholarship ($20,000 over four years to each scholar) to support their college educations: Larry Davis, Western Tech, Maryland; Leshaia Davis-Johnson, Western, Towson; Hebo Dramour, Heritage, Virginia Wesleyan; Aliyah Hickman, Mervo, Morgan State; and Jasmine Kaur, Winters Mill, Towson.
