Flash flood watch in effect Thursday

June 12, 2014|By Scott Dance, The Baltimore Sun

Scattered showers and likely thunderstorms are forecast Thursday, with more intense humidity and highs in the mid-80s.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for much of the state from noon Thursday through the evening. The areas under the watch include Carroll, Harford, Howard and Baltimore counties and Baltimore City.

Overnight lows were forecast in the 60s to near 70 degrees.

About half an inch of rain is possible, with showers expected in the morning hours and storm chances in the afternoon and evening. The storm could lead to flash flooding since 1 to 2 inches of rain have already fallen recently in parts of Maryland.

Storm chances continue into Friday, with more high humidity and highs in the mid-80s.

Drier air and sunny skies are forecast Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the lower 80s.

Storm chances, humidity and highs pushing 90 degrees are forecast next week.
