Eastern Tech climbed to No. 16 in the most recent MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Softball Rankings.
The Mavericks, ranked No. 1 in the area by The Baltimore Sun, won the Class 2A state title and completed a 25-0 season by defeating Easton, 3-1 last month.
"It's pretty neat how these kids just responded under pressure," Eastern Tech coach Jack Meyers said after the win.
The team won Eastern Tech's first-ever state title in softball and broke program records for highest batting average (.530), runs scored (366), RBIs (344), home runs (19), doubles (58), triples (40) and on-base percentage (.607).
Senior pitcher Jordan Cargile led the Mavericks, going 24-0 with a 0.53 ERA and program-record 190 strikeouts, an effort that earned her All-Metro Player of the Year honors. Meyers was The Sun's All-Metro Coach of the Year.
