Toni Brown, Milford Mill, All-Metro Girls Track and Field Performer… (Jerry Jackson / The Baltimore…)
Brown has become one of the area's most versatile athletes during her time at Milford Mill, but she really blossomed in the past few seasons and led the Millers to a second-place finish in Class 3A at the state championship meet.
A versatile athlete who can compete in both sprints and hurdles, she also runs relays and set four Baltimore County records — two on sprints and two more on hurdles — as Milford Mill won the Baltimore County and Class 3A North titles.
At the state meet, Brown won the 400-meter dash, took third in the 200 and ran on the victorious 800- and 1,600-meter relay teams.
Brown is headed to Connecticut in the fall and hopes to keep developing there. If she does, it won't surprise her coach a bit.
"Toni was always a hard-working athlete; she always followed instructions and did everything that was asked," Millers coach James Simms said. "Ever since [her] freshman year, Toni was a goal seeker. It was just a matter of time when she was going to blossom."
