Cargile repeats as the Player of the Year after having one of the most successful seasons of any pitcher in the history of Maryland high school softball.

She went 24-0 with a program record 190 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.53, leading the Mavericks (25-0) to a perfect season and first state championship in program history.

Cargile also was a force at the plate, batting .540 with an on-base percentage of .591 with 40 RBIs. She had five doubles, seven triples and struck out just twice the entire season.

In the Class 2A state final against a powerful Easton team, Cargile was dominant once again. She allowed just one run on three hits in seven innings in the 3-1 victory. After the win, she took time to savor the moment after falling short in the title game last season.

"Best. Memory. Ever," she said. "I will forever remember this."

Cargile will attend Delaware in the fall.
