MLL honors Holman; Bayhawks make two trades
Marcus Holman (Gilman) earned Major League Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honors for his effort in leading the Ohio Machine to the Chesapeake Bayhawks last week. Holman had six points in the 15-11 victory Saturday night at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. He scored four times, including a 2-point power-play goal late in the third quarter, and assisted on a power-play goal early in the third.
Trades: The Bayhawks on Monday acquired midfielder-faceoff specialist Stephen Robarge and defenseman James Connelly (college inactive list) from the Denver Outlaws in exchange for midfielder Cameron Holding. The Bayhawks, the two-time defending Major League Lacrosse champions, have struggled at the faceoff X during their 1-4 start; their .417 percentage ranks last among the league's eight teams. Connelly has won 47 of 98 draws (.480) in his three-year career. The Bayhawks also made a deal with the Florida Launch, getting defenseman Jason Noble in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2015 college draft. Noble will help make up for the absence of defenseman Brian Spallina, who will be out a few more weeks with a broken jaw.
