June 02, 2014|AEGIS STAFF REPORT

A man was fatally shot in what the Harford County Sheriff's Office is calling a "domestic homicide" in Edgewood on Monday night.

The incident took place in the 3100 Mahonia Way, Edward Hopkins, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office said.

At about 8 p.m., sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 report of a shooting at that location, according to Hopkins.

While en route, deputies were further advised the female 911 caller reported being allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend and during the assault she reportedly shot him, he said.

"Upon arrival deputies discovered a 37-year-old male deceased inside the home," Hopkins said. "The female is reported to have suffered injuries, as a result of the assault."

Hopkins said the woman was transported to University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center by paramedics from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.

Hopkins said shortly after 11 p.m. that detectives remained on the scene and notification of next of kin for both parties is pending.

"The detectives are still trying to sort everything out," he said.
