Memorial Day County government offices, courts, animal shelter and the landfill will be closed in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. There will be no trash, recycling or yard waste collection.

Wine tasting The Howard County Conservancy holds its eighth annual "Wine in the Garden" event from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 10520 Old Frederick Road in Woodstock. Visitors can walk through the garden tasting wine and craft beer, sample food from local restaurants, listen to bluegrass music and browse a silent auction with artwork, getaways and more. Fun run Temple Isaiah sponsors the 10th annual Matzohball 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday, June 1, at Centennial Park in Ellicott City.
