Roundup: Chesapeake-AA advances to Class 4A baseball state final

North Harford and Sparrows Point also reach title games

Fourth-ranked Chesapeake-AA won, 6-0, against Gaithersburg in a Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association Class 4A baseball semifinal Tuesday at the University of Maryland campus.

Chesapeake will play Sherwood in a championship game at Ripken Stadium on Friday.

No. 5 North Harford 8, La Plata 2: A two-run rally in the seventh inning wasn't enough for the Warriors, and the Hawks won a Class 3A semifinal at Joe Cannon Stadium to advance to a championship game against Reservoir at Ripken Stadium on Saturday.

Sparrows Point 24, Maritime Academy 0: The Pointers led the Lions by 17-0 three innings into their Class 1A semifinal win at McCurdy Field.

Sparrows Point and Smithsburg will play in the championship game Saturday at Ripken Stadium.

St. John's Catholic Prep 5, Chapelgate 2: The Vikings won the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association C Conference championship by beating the defending champion Yellowjackets at Calvert Hall.


Easton 1, South Carroll 0, 8 innings: The Warriors scored in the eighth inning to beat the Cavaliers in a Class 2A semifinal at Bachman Sports Complex and advance to the championship game against Eastern Tech on the Maryland campus.

Northern 3, C. Milton Wright 2: The Patriots defeated the Mustangs in the Class 3A semifinal at Bachman Sports Complex.

Northern will play Linganore for its seventh straight state championship at Maryland.
