Minor injuries after house fire in Elkridge

A firefighter and a police officer suffered minor injuries amid battling a house fire in Elkridge early Tuesday morning, Howard County fire officials said.

The fire department said the blaze broke out in the home in the 7300 block of Montgomery Road at around 1 a.m., with fire visible from the rear of the home and on an exterior deck. It took about 45 minutes for the fire to be declared under control.

A firefighter was injured putting up a ground ladder and a police officer was treated on scene for smoke inhalation, fire department officials said. No civilians were injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
