In NFL draft, Ravens 'were not going to just reach down' to pick an offensive tackle

Team picked defensive players with four of first five picks, looks to assess current options on O-line

"We have three tackles here, because K.O. can play tackle, we've got Ricky, and we've got Eugene," Newsome said. "We'll just shake things up, and see how the best thing happens. As you all well know, we're not done as far as building this football team. If the opportunity presents itself for us to acquire a player to play tackle if we need to, we'll be able to do it."

Newsome said he wants to make sure the Ravens take the time to properly evaluate their own players.

"Even if we had drafted [St. Louis Rams first-round tackle] Greg Robinson, we've got these young guys, and we need to give these young guys a chance," Newsome said. "I think guys should fail on the field, so we're going to give these guys the opportunity to fail on the field. That way, we know whether they can [play] or not, but we feel real good about them."
